Original: サル山
Ichikawa City Zoological and Botanical Garden has reopened viewing of its monkey mountain, drawing excited reactions from visitors who had long awaited the return. Attention is focused on Panchi, a young monkey with a fanbase reaching overseas, who has grown into a caring older-brother figure toward a baby monkey. Local media including Chunichi Shimbun covered the reopening, and the city continues promoting zoo events such as a miniature steam train run.
Why now: The reopening of the popular monkey mountain exhibit and Panchi's widely shared growth story are drawing fresh public and media attention.
