Midrex Technologies says Mesabi Metallics will use its direct reduced iron (DRI) technology for its ironmaking operations in Minnesota. The deal ties the struggling Mesabi project to one of the world's leading DRI process providers, a step seen as significant for low-carbon steelmaking supply chains in the United States.
