Original: Colorado can help lead data center construction — in space | PODIUM
A Colorado Politics opinion column argues that Colorado, with its strong aerospace industry, should help pioneer the construction of data centers in space. The proposal positions the state to take a leading role in an emerging effort to move energy-hungry computing infrastructure off Earth, as terrestrial data centers strain power grids and face growing demands from artificial intelligence workloads.
Why now: Growing concern over data centers' energy use has sparked interest in space-based alternatives, and Colorado's aerospace sector makes it a candidate to lead.
