Ben Simmons Signs With Western Conference's Worst Team After Warriors Pass
Original: Golden State Passes on No. 1 Draft Pick, Who Signs with Western Conference’s Worst Team Ben Simmons attracted interest f
Ben Simmons drew offseason interest from the Golden State Warriors, New York Knicks and Minnesota Timberwolves, but none of those teams ultimately offered the 2016 first overall draft pick a deal. He has now signed with the team with the worst record in the Western Conference, taking a low-cost chance on the former All-Star as he tries to revive his career.
Why now: Simmons is a high-profile former No. 1 pick whose decline and uncertain free agency made his landing spot a talking point.
