Genetic Twist Behind Octopus Intelligence Discovered

Original: Scientists find a surprising genetic twist behind octopus intelligence The remarkable intelligence of octopuses, squid,

Scientists report that the remarkable intelligence of octopuses, squid, and cuttlefish may trace back to an ancient reshuffling of their DNA that created new connections between genes. The findings suggest cephalopod brains evolved through large-scale genomic reorganization rather than simple gene changes, offering a possible explanation for why these molluscs developed such complex cognition.

Why now: New research offering a genetic explanation for cephalopod intelligence is drawing attention in science communities.
