Heavy hail collapses parking roofs in Santiago region

Original: alerta meteorológica

An intense hailstorm in Chile's Santiago Metropolitan Region has caused parking lot roofs to collapse under the weight of accumulated ice. The damage follows a weather alert for the area, and images of crushed structures and hail-covered streets are circulating widely, with warnings of more severe weather in central Chile.

Why now: A weather alert and striking images of storm damage are drawing attention as residents assess the aftermath of the hailstorm.
