Several Portuguese artists have announced they will not take part in the upcoming Lisbon International Humour Festival, which is set to open on 29 November. They cite opposition to Israel's war in Gaza and to Jerry Seinfeld's public support for Israel's campaign. The withdrawals have sparked debate in Portugal over artists' responsibilities regarding political affiliations of headline performers.

Why now: The festival opens imminently and the artists' boycott ties a major cultural event to the highly contentious Gaza war.
