Rams release kicker Harrison Mevis, sign Blake Grupe
Original: Rams release kicker Harrison Mevis, sign K Blake Grupe off Jets' practice squad
The Los Angeles Rams have released kicker Harrison Mevis and signed Blake Grupe off the New York Jets' practice squad, a move that reshapes their placekicking situation. Grupe, formerly of the New Orleans Saints, now takes over kicking duties in Los Angeles, while Mevis, who had been handling the role, becomes a free agent.
Why now: An unexpected mid-season change at kicker prompts fans to debate whether Mevis's performance or injury forced the move.
