DOJ arrests two, seizes 187 devices in North Korean laptop farm crackdown
Original: DOJ arrests 2, seizes 187 devices in North Korean laptop farm crackdown in Texas
The US Department of Justice arrested two people and seized 187 devices in Texas as part of a crackdown on a 'laptop farm' scheme, in which North Korean IT workers allegedly used stolen or false identities to land remote jobs at American companies and funnel salaries back to Pyongyang. The operation highlights growing US enforcement against North Korean remote-work schemes that finance weapons programs.
Why now: North Korean operatives infiltrating US companies through remote work is a striking and ongoing national security concern.
