Ukraine deploys new weapon against Shahed drones
Original: Ukraine closes its skies to Shahed drones; new weapon helps shoot down Russian UAVs
Ukraine is reporting progress in closing its airspace to Russian-made Shahed attack drones, aided by a new weapon that helps shoot down the unmanned aircraft. Shahed drones have been a central tool in Russia's air campaign against Ukrainian cities and infrastructure, and Ukraine's air defenses have been racing to counter them. The development is being discussed as a potentially significant step in that effort.
Why now: Renewed interest in Ukraine's ability to counter Russian drone attacks and in the new weapon said to be making that possible.
