Original: Producers, Congress weigh in as lamb import hearing approaches
US lamb producers and members of Congress are submitting comments as a hearing on lamb imports approaches, according to Capital Press. The industry has long sought relief from imported lamb, and the hearing gives producers a formal chance to argue for trade protections while lawmakers voice support for domestic ranchers.
Why now: An upcoming import hearing gives stakeholders a deadline to make their case on lamb trade policy.
