American Evangelicals' Jesus imagery compared to Doom's protagonist
Original: Still amazing to see American Evangelicals confusing Jesus with the guy from Doom. # USPol
A recurring critique of American Evangelical culture is circulating again: the claim that some believers' militaristic, gun-toting depiction of Jesus resembles the armored demon-slayer from the video game Doom rather than the traditional figure of Christ. The observation, shared with a US politics tag, mocks what critics see as a warrior-like Christianity at odds with the religion's pacifist roots.
Why now: Commentators frequently mock the overlap between US Evangelical imagery of a combative Jesus and pop culture's violent action heroes.
