A developer team has published ArtCraft, a fairly complete open-source recreation of Adobe-style creative software, including the PDFCraft and VectorCraft tools now being tested in early reviews. Commenters on German-language forums are calling it an attack on Adobe, noting the free availability of the source code and debating how viable the suite is compared with Adobe's paid subscription products.
Why now: People are discussing it because a free, open-source alternative to Adobe's dominant creative tools is a rare and significant development.
