Social media post draws parallel between colonization and Palestine
Original: Hace unos 500 años comenzaba la # invasión , # genocidio , # explotación , colonización y robo de tierras sobre los # Pu
A Spanish-language post marking roughly 500 years since the start of European colonization argues that the invasion, genocide, exploitation and land seizure suffered by Indigenous peoples of the Americas parallels what it calls Israel's actions in Palestine, differing only in technology and scale. The comparison is circulating amid ongoing debate over the Israel-Palestine conflict and historical memory of colonialism in Latin America.
Why now: Ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict keeps colonialism comparisons circulating on social media.
