The LibreOffice project has announced a new feature coming in version 26.8: Writer will automatically detect paragraph direction when opening or pasting plain right-to-left text. This removes the need for manual formatting, making it smoother to edit Arabic and Hebrew documents. Users working with multilingual or RTL content are welcoming the change as a long-awaited usability improvement.
Why now: The upcoming right-to-left detection feature matters to users who regularly edit Arabic and Hebrew documents and had to set direction manually.
