A runner in Bayonne notes that women dominate the running scene along the city's quays, while men are conspicuously absent - jokingly suggesting they are slumped in front of the TV or, with a wink, minding the children. The observation touches on a real trend: women's recreational running has grown steadily in France, and many notice the gender split at street level.
Why now: The lighthearted gender observation taps into the widely discussed rise of women's recreational running.
