Hobbyist builds robot arm that can play chess
Original: My current project! Hit a milestone yesterday: I can actually play a game of chess against my robot arm! # chess # robot
A developer has reached a personal milestone in a home robotics project: their robot arm can now play a full game of chess against a human opponent. The setup appears to use the Stockfish chess engine and a Raspberry Pi to drive the arm's moves. The announcement drew a small wave of attention from the maker and robotics community.
Why now: Home-built chess-playing robots are a popular maker challenge, and completing a full working game is a satisfying, shareable milestone.
