FBI raids Texas 'laptop farms' funding North Korea's nuclear program

Original: FBI raids Texas 'laptop farms' helping North Korea fund nuclear weapons

The FBI has carried out raids in Texas targeting so-called 'laptop farms' — operations allegedly using fraudulently obtained remote IT jobs to funnel wages to North Korea's weapons program. The scheme is said to involve North Korean operatives working secretly for US companies and sending their salaries home to help fund nuclear weapons development. The Dallas-Fort Worth area raids are drawing attention to a growing threat of sanctions evasion.

Why now: The FBI's unusual raids on US soil linked to North Korean nuclear funding are a striking new development in sanctions enforcement.
