Siri can now play Spotify music without naming the app

Original: Spotify users on iOS 27 can now ask Siri to play music without having to say ‘on Spotify’

Spotify users running iOS 27 can now ask Siri to play music without adding 'on Spotify' to their command, as Apple relaxes its Siri defaulting rules. The change, reported by TechCrunch, means requests like 'play my discover weekly' can route to Spotify instead of Apple Music, streamlining voice control for third-party music apps.

Why now: Apple's easing of Siri restrictions for third-party music apps marks a notable shift in its ecosystem practices, drawing attention from Spotify's huge user base.
