Ukraine's Operation Vivaldi shows artillery still matters in drone warfare
Original: Ukraine's Operation Vivaldi shows why artillery still matters in a drone fight
Ukraine's Operation Vivaldi is being highlighted as proof that traditional artillery remains decisive even as drones dominate the battlefield. The operation reportedly combined massed artillery fire with drone operations, showing the two working together rather than drones replacing guns. Commentators point to it as evidence that neither weapon system alone can win, and militaries watching the war are reassessing the balance between shells and drones.
Why now: Ukraine's combined use of artillery and drones is prompting debate over how modern wars should be fought.
