Study finds more young Haredim leaving ultra-Orthodox community
Original: More young Haredim leaving the fold than previously thought, study finds
A new study finds that more young ultra-Orthodox (Haredi) Jews in Israel are leaving their community than earlier research suggested. The findings point to higher rates of departure from the insular society, challenging previous estimates. The topic is drawing attention for its implications on Israel's demographic and religious landscape, as Haredi retention rates affect projections about the community's rapid growth and its role in the country's future.
Why now: The findings challenge established assumptions about the growth and cohesion of Israel's ultra-Orthodox community.
