Cappella Pratensis performs Champion's Missa de Sancta Maria Magdalena

Original: @ classicalmusic Nicolas Champion Missa de Sancta Maria Magdalena Gregorianische Gesänge zum Fest der heiligen Maria Mag

Cappella Pratensis, directed by countertenor Tim Braithwaite, performed Nicolas Champion's Missa de Sancta Maria Magdalena together with Gregorian chants for the feast of Saint Mary Magdalene. The performance was broadcast by Deutschlandfunk, drawing attention among early-music listeners to the little-recorded Franco-Flemish composer and the ensemble's chant-based approach to Renaissance polyphony.

Why now: A Deutschlandfunk broadcast of a rare Renaissance mass tied to Mary Magdalene's feast day caught the attention of early-music fans.
