Three NFL teams criticized for Columbus Day posts
Original: Three NFL teams roasted for celebrating Indigenous Peoples' Day on Columbus Day, which no team even mentioned
Three NFL franchises faced backlash after acknowledging Indigenous Peoples' Day while it was pointed out that none of the league's teams mentioned Columbus Day itself. Critics accused the clubs of selectively choosing which holiday to recognize, reigniting the annual debate over how brands and sports organizations handle the two overlapping October holidays and the cultural and political sensitivities surrounding them.
Why now: The clubs' holiday posts struck a nerve in the ongoing culture-war debate over Columbus Day versus Indigenous Peoples' Day.
