Ukraine's SBU Alpha unit destroys Russian Pantsir on elevated tower

Original: A Russian Pantsir air defense system is destroyed atop a dedicated air defense tower in new footage from the SSU’s Alpha

Newly released footage from Ukraine's Security Service SBU shows its Alpha special unit destroying a Russian Pantsir air defense system mounted on a dedicated elevated tower. Russia has been building such raised platforms to give its air defenses better radar coverage and an improved view of low-flying targets. The strike highlights growing Ukrainian success in picking off systems Russia relies on for frontline air cover.

Why now: The rare destruction of an air defense system on one of Russia's purpose-built elevated towers demonstrates Ukraine's ability to degrade Russian air cover.
