The migrant support group Utopia56 has announced a commemorative weekend in Calais on 16, 17 and 18 October 2026, marking ten years since the demolition of the Grande Jungle refugee camp. Together with other associations aiding exiled people, it plans events to look back on the camp's destruction and to affirm that solidarity work continues, under the slogan 'ten years on, we are still here'.
Why now: Associations are mobilising for the anniversary of the Calais Jungle's dismantling, a symbolic moment in France's migration debate.
