First snowstorm of season hits Beartooth Front
Original: First real wintery system Beartooth Front sat. evening thru today. Late in the high country but not below 2000m. 8cm ❄️
The Beartooth Front in Montana received its first real winter system over the weekend, with around 8 cm of snow falling Sunday, though only above roughly 2,000 metres. Temperatures dipped to -3C in town, and Lakefork Canyon at 2,200-2,400m saw slightly less snow after warming to 1C. Locals welcomed the moisture, estimating 20-25mm of precipitation from the storm, noting the area had badly needed it after a dry start to the season.
Why now: A late-arriving first snowfall brought much-needed moisture to the region, prompting outdoor and weather watchers to share conditions.
