Tesla's Full Self-Driving Gets a More Honest Name
Original: Tesla’s Full Self-Driving Gets a More Honest Name
Tesla has renamed its Full Self-Driving (FSD) driver-assistance package, dropping or revising the branding in what is being described as a more honest label for software that still requires active driver supervision. The change follows years of criticism from safety advocates and regulators who argued the 'Full Self-Driving' name overstated the system's capabilities and could encourage misuse. Details on the new name and rollout remain limited.
Why now: Tesla's rebranding addresses long-standing regulatory and safety criticism that the FSD name misled drivers about the system's true capabilities.
