Netanyahu orders prosecution of documentary film interviewees
Original: that er, 'only democracy in the Middle East' seems really intent on locking up dissenters and filmmakers... https://www.
Benjamin Netanyahu has reportedly ordered the identification and prosecution of people who appeared as interviewees in a documentary film, prompting outrage among free-speech advocates. Critics say the move, discussed widely online alongside the Guardian's report, contradicts Israel's self-description as the region's only democracy, arguing it amounts to targeting dissenters and filmmakers for their work.
Why now: A government order to prosecute documentary interviewees is being seen as an attack on press freedom and dissent in Israel.
