Ilhan Omar's home raided in federal criminal investigation
Original: Rep. Ilhan Omar’s home raided in federal criminal investigation
Federal agents carried out a search of the Minnesota home of Representative Ilhan Omar as part of a criminal investigation, according to CNBC. The report gives no further details about the probe's focus or whether the Democratic congresswoman is a target. Omar, a frequent figure in immigration and foreign policy debates, has faced political attacks before, and the raid is already drawing sharp reactions across the political spectrum.
Why now: A sitting member of Congress having her home searched by federal agents is an extraordinary development likely to fuel political controversy.
