Burnham says RAF Fairford plot likely directed by Iran's IRGC
Original: BREAKING: Andy Burnham says the RAF Fairford plot was "almost certainly" directed by Iran's IRGC
Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham says the plot targeting RAF Fairford was "almost certainly" directed by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The claim, made as details of the alleged scheme emerged, points to Iranian state involvement in a planned attack on UK soil and is likely to intensify debate about Britain's response to Tehran.
Why now: A senior British politician is publicly accusing Iran's IRGC of directing an attack plot on a UK airbase, a significant escalation in an unfolding story.
