Original: Ilhan Omar's D.C. home searched by Homeland Security investigators, sources say
Homeland Security investigators searched Representative Ilhan Omar's Washington, D.C. home, according to sources cited by CBS News. The reported investigation centers on Omar's immigration documents, specifically paperwork filled out by her late father when she was a child. The Minnesota Democrat, a frequent target of political criticism, has not been charged with any wrongdoing, and details of the search remain limited as officials have not publicly confirmed the inquiry.
Why now: A sitting member of Congress reportedly being investigated over her own immigration history is an unusual and politically charged development.
