Scientists study how heat and drought affect giant redwoods
Original: When climate change brings the heat, what happens to a mighty redwood?
Researchers are examining how coast redwoods, among the tallest and oldest trees on Earth, are coping with intensifying heat and drought linked to climate change. The question of whether these mighty trees can survive a hotter, drier future is drawing attention, with scientists studying stress signals in the canopy and what the findings mean for the forests' survival.
