Immigration agents search Ilhan Omar's home
Original: Immigration agents search congresswoman Ilhan Omar's home
US immigration agents searched the home of Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, according to the BBC. The Somali-born Minnesota Democrat has been a prominent critic of hardline immigration enforcement, and the search drew immediate attention and questions about why agents targeted a sitting member of Congress. No details on any charges or findings were reported.
Why now: Immigration enforcement touching a sitting congresswoman who is herself an immigrant and a vocal critic of such agencies is politically explosive.
