England split cricket coaching and issue record 39 central contracts
Original: England split cricket coaching setups and hand out record 39 central contracts
English cricket has restructured its coaching arrangements, splitting responsibilities across separate setups, while awarding a record 39 central contracts to players. The move marks a significant shake-up in how the England and Wales Cricket Board supports its men's and women's teams. Commentators are weighing what the larger contracted player pool means for squad depth and selection ahead of upcoming international schedules.
Why now: A record number of central contracts and a reorganisation of coaching is a notable structural change in English cricket.
