Choosing climate solutions builds new institutional power
Original: Selecting climate solutions creates new institutional authority
A Nature commentary argues that the process of selecting climate solutions is itself a form of governance: when governments, funders and scientific bodies decide which technologies and interventions to prioritise, they create new institutional authority. The article suggests these selection decisions shape who holds power over climate policy, raising questions about legitimacy, accountability and whose voices count in deciding the future of climate action.
Why now: A high-profile Nature piece frames climate solution selection as a new form of institutional power, prompting debate about governance and accountability.
