Zelenskyy vows retaliation over Russian strikes on Ukraine's power grid
Original: Zelenskyy vows to retaliate if Russian strikes on Ukraine’s power grid continue By Andrew Roth, Jennifer Rankin and Luke
Volodymyr Zelenskyy has promised to retaliate if Russia continues its strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, speaking as Russian drones hit Kyiv. The Ukrainian leader said he was surprised by Donald Trump's announcement of an 'energy ceasefire', which was posted even as the attacks on the power grid were under way. The comments highlight growing tension between Ukraine's expectations of US mediation and the reality of continued Russian bombardment.
Why now: Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy grid continued despite a claimed energy ceasefire backed by Trump, raising questions about the credibility of ceasefire diplomacy.
