US urged to halt Russian fuel imports it still buys
Original: US to other countries: Don't buy Russian fuel, or face the consequences! US to itself: I'll get some anyway ...
A widely shared post accuses Washington of a double standard: pressuring other countries to stop buying Russian fuel with threats of consequences, while the US continues to import some Russian products itself. Commenters are mocking what they see as hypocrisy in the US sanctions campaign against Moscow, with jokes about the gap between the message to allies and US behavior.
Why now: Ongoing debate over US sanctions on Russian energy and perceived double standards in enforcing them.
