Big Brother UK contestant Omar sparks debate over treatment of women

Original: Omar, typical Muslim man in the UK going after western women and trying to squash them down into behaving a way they dee

Viewers of Big Brother UK are criticising a contestant named Omar, accusing him of pressuring western women to behave in ways he considers acceptable and reacting angrily when they refuse. The criticism has been voiced by a Moroccan-British viewer, who framed it as a broader concern about attitudes toward women rather than an attack on Muslims, and the row has become one of the most engaged-with talking points about the current series.

Why now: A contestant's behaviour on the current Big Brother UK series is drawing accusations of misogyny and prompting discussion about cultural attitudes toward women.
