A widely shared claim on social media asserts that an investigation has confirmed a far-left network of communists, socialists and Islamists — some allegedly linked to China — is funding riots in France. The claim, framed as a rebuttal to coverage describing the unrest as 'student riots', has drawn tens of thousands of engagements. No French investigative source or official confirmation has been cited in the circulating posts.

Why now: French riots are in the news and politically charged claims about who is behind them spread quickly online.
