Murderbot fan jokes about subtle Pax Aus costume
Original: I think my # PaxAus costume may have been too subtle. # books # writing # Murderbot # SciFi # DeepCut
An attendee at PAX Australia dressed as Murderbot, the security-unit protagonist of Martha Wells' science fiction series, and joked that the costume may have been too subtle for fellow convention-goers to recognise. The self-deprecating quip plays on the idea that some deeply loved characters make for deliberately low-key cosplay, leaving fans of the books to spot the reference themselves.
Why now: Murderbot is a popular sci-fi character and the joke about an unrecognisable deep-cut costume resonates with convention-goers and book fans.
