Ukraine Rejects Trump Call to Halt Strikes on Russian Refineries
Original: Ukraine Shrugs Off Trump Call to Ditch Zelensky for Energy Strikes
President Trump criticised Volodymyr Zelensky for Ukraine's attacks on Russian oil refineries, urging an end to the strikes. Zelensky responded that Ukraine would stop only if Russia halted its own attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure. Kyiv's refusal to unilaterally back down underscores the widening gap between the White House's approach to the war and Ukraine's negotiating position.
Why now: Trump's public rebuke of Zelensky signals a sharp shift in US-Ukraine relations as peace talks pressure mounts.
