Karl-Anthony Towns says Knicks extension talks caught him off guard
Original: Karl-Anthony Towns on Knicks tabling player extensions: 'It was news to me' https://www. nytimes.com/athletic/7681236/2
New York Knicks center Karl-Anthony Towns said he learned only afterward that the franchise had tabled discussions over player contract extensions. 'It was news to me,' Towns said, adding, 'Let's state the obvious: It's a business, but there is business on the court for us to handle.' His comments come as the Knicks balance roster finances with their on-court ambitions, drawing attention from fans and NBA reporters.
Why now: A star player publicly expressing surprise at his own team's contract decisions is unusual and fuels speculation about Knicks internal dynamics.
