Thom Tillis says he made a mistake confirming Pete Hegseth
Original: thom tillis
Senator Thom Tillis, Republican of North Carolina, publicly said 'I made a mistake' regarding his vote to confirm Pete Hegseth as US Secretary of Defense. The admission from a Senate Republican has drawn attention as scrutiny of Hegseth's leadership at the Pentagon continues, with Tillis's comments fueling debate over the confirmation among lawmakers and commentators.
Why now: A Republican senator publicly disowning his own vote for the defense secretary is a notable break within the party amid ongoing criticism of Hegseth.
