Portuguese students call Lisbon demonstration against tuition fee hike

Original: # Portugal : Student associations from five institutions of higher education have called for a demonstration on October

Student associations from five Portuguese higher education institutions have called a demonstration in Lisbon on October 21 to protest the government's proposal to lift the freeze on tuition fees from the 2027–2028 academic year. In a joint statement, the associations argued the move would increase the financial burden on students and are urging a broad turnout against the plan.

Why now: The planned protest against the government's tuition fee proposal is newly announced and touches a widespread cost-of-education concern.
