Turin, Italy: a large crowd, reported at over 20,000 people, gathered in the city's main square, chanting 'Turin is ours' while setting fires, leaving smoke and disorder in the city centre. Observers are sharply divided, with some framing it as a peaceful protest gone out of control and others calling it a sign of unrest engulfing the city.

Why now: Dramatic footage of fires and nationalist-style chants in a major Italian square is fueling debate over public order and immigration.
