Starlink Faces a Tough Market in India's Ultra-Cheap Data Landscape
Original: India Has The World’s Cheapest Data. Starlink Wants In? > Then: ₹268/GB > Now: ₹8/GB Starlink hardware alone is reported
Elon Musk's Starlink is reportedly looking to enter India, but it faces a hard sell in the country with the world's cheapest mobile data. Prices have fallen from around ₹268 per GB in earlier years to roughly ₹8 per GB today, while Starlink hardware alone is reported to cost over ₹30,000, raising doubts about Musk's claim that the service will reach Indian villages.
Why now: Commentators are questioning whether Starlink's high hardware costs can compete with India's extremely cheap data plans.
