UAE prosecutors say a Flydubai co-pilot was planning a terror attack, claiming he was inspired by the September 11 attacks. The announcement has drawn wide attention given the airline's prominence in the Gulf and the reference to 9/11, and details about the suspect, the alleged target, and how the plot was uncovered have not yet been made public.
Why now: Prosecutors publicly linking an active airline pilot to a 9/11-inspired plot is alarming and unusual.
