Review: Laika's 'Wildwood' Falls Short of Studio's Best
Original: ‘Wildwood’ Review: Laika’s Epic Stop-Motion Wonder Lacks the Magic of the Studio’s Best Movies
Early reviews are in for 'Wildwood', Laika's stop-motion adaptation, and the verdict is lukewarm. IndieWire's review calls the film an epic stop-motion wonder but says it lacks the magic of the studio's best movies, suggesting the ambitious fantasy doesn't fully live up to classics like 'Coraline' and 'Kubo and the Two Strings'. Reactions are mixed as the film heads toward release.
Why now: A new film from a beloved stop-motion studio is being reviewed, and critics are divided on whether it matches its predecessors.
