Denmark trials humanoid robots in supermarkets for night shifts
Original: Video. Denmark tests humanoid robots in supermarkets to help to ease staff workload at night
Danish supermarkets have begun testing humanoid robots designed to work overnight, taking on routine tasks and easing the workload of human staff during night shifts. Footage published by Euronews shows the robots operating on shop floors. The trial is being watched as a test case for how retail, one of Europe's biggest employers of low-wage night workers, might automate repetitive jobs while staff focus on other duties.
Why now: Automation of retail jobs is a live debate, and a real-world trial of humanoid robots in supermarkets offers a concrete glimpse of that future.
