Amazon to Give Sacha Baron Cohen's Ali G Film a One-Weekend Release

Original: UPDATE: Amazon Dumping Sacha Baron Cohen "Ali G" Movie in Very Narrow Release for One Weekend Only Using Borat as Bait and Switch

Amazon is releasing Sacha Baron Cohen's "Ali G" movie in a very limited theatrical run for one weekend only, according to Showbiz411. The report claims the strategy amounts to a bait and switch, with the film being promoted using the far better-known Borat branding to draw audiences into seeing the lesser-known Ali G title. The move is being read as Amazon quietly dumping the film into theatres rather than giving it a full release.

Why now: People are talking about Amazon's unusual, minimal theatrical release strategy for a Sacha Baron Cohen film.
